Call for Proposals

  • Proposal submission deadline has past.

Representatives of higher education institutions, government and funding agencies, industry and civil society are invited to submit presentation proposals to participate in the second conference of the North American Center for Collaborative Development (NACCD) to be celebrated in Guadalajara, Mexico from March 21-23, 2018.  Join us to share about your efforts and initiatives to strengthen the North American region, promote innovation and support entrepreneurship.  We extend a special invitation to those who work in higher education institution technology and research parks, initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship and in commercialization offices.  Come and share successful practices, innovative models and lessons learned by proposing a topic for a presentation or discussion.  Presentations are welcome on all pertinent topics. Some possible themes include:

  • The Future of the North American Region:  Tuning Up North America’s Trilateral Relationship
  • Creating Innovation Pockets:  Ecosystems, Accelerators and Hubs
  • Successful Practices and Lessons Learned in the Commercialization of Academic Production
  • Cultivating Entrepreneurship:  Start-ups, small and medium business financing and venture capital
  • Roadmaps for Successful International Collaboration in Science and Technology
  • Smart Cities:  Intelligent Technology Use for Redesigning our Relationships with the Environment
  • Industry 4.0 and Advanced Manufacturing:  Preparing Human Capital for the Next Industrial Revolution
  • The Sustainable Development Goals:  Golden Opportunities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In the spirit of collaboration, we will attempt to place individual presentations in a shared session with other presenters. We particularly welcome thematically unified proposals which include multiple speakers offering perspectives from more than one country/cultural context.  If you have colleagues with whom you can submit a joint proposal, we encourage you to do so (please verify their interest and availability to attend and present before submitting). Preference will be given to this kind of coordinated group presentation involving representatives from multiple institutions and countries.

Concurrent session duration is one hour and fifteen minutes. Given that each session contains an average of 3 presenters plus a moderator, each presenter must agree to equitably share the time with the other presenters allocated to the session (regardless of format). Presentation plans should allow at least 15 minutes for audience interaction. Those listed as "co-presenters" are expected to attend the conference. Those who do not attend will not be mentioned in the conference program, unless their names are explicitly included in the “Short Description” section of the presentation proposal.

Please note:

This is a selective process and there are undoubtedly other excellent proposals which we’d like to accommodate.  If your proposal is accepted, space will be set aside for your presentation in the conference program.  Please do plan to attend, or be considerate of others and let us know as soon as possible if you or your co-presenters will be unable to participate.

Papers selected by the editorial committee may be published after the conference. Previously published work can be submitted for presentation, however, only works not previously published are eligible for publication.  Presentation materials not submitted by the pre-conference deadline, although they may not be made available through the conference website before the event, are still welcome after the conference.  We encourage you to share your presentation materials and notes through our website resource library by emailing them to Santiago Castiello at santiagocg@email.arizona.edu

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ:  Presenters will not receive any compensation nor will copies of presentation materials be shared by conference organizers in printed form. Travel, lodging, conference registration fees, the provision of presentation materials and all other conference related expenses will be the presenter's sole responsibility.
